Mr. David N. Olsen
A native of Marshfield, Maine, Mr. Olsen received his
Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from the
University of Florida in 2000. In 2000 Mr. Olsen became a
teacher in Alachua County Schools as Director of Music at
Lincoln Middle School in Gainesville, Florida.
Orchestras and Bands under Mr. Olsen's direction have
consistently received high honors and recognition at the
district level and at other various music festivals.
Additional teaching and educational experiences include
four years teaching in his trumpet studio, research
participant in the University of Florida Scholars Program,
one year as Assistant Director of Bands at Santa Fe High
School in Alachua, Florida, and two summers teaching
trumpet lessons and brass quintet at the University of
Florida Summer Band Program. Mr. Olsen also works with
other student musicians and directors as a guest clinician.
Mr. Olsen served in Alachua county with fellow middle
school directors as the Alachua County Middle School Honor
Band Chairman. He served as district liaison for secondary
music in the Alachua County School system as well as
representative of the School Board of Alachua County for
the Alachua County Youth Orchestra executive board. Mr.
Olsen is on the Board of Advisors for the National
Adjudicators Middle School Festival. Professional
memberships include the Florida Orchestra Association,
Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Music Educator's
Association, and the Music Educator's National Conference.
Mr. Olsen currently teaches orchestra at Chain of Lakes
Middle School in Orlando, Florida. He resides in Winter
Park, Florida. His current family consists of his fiancée
Kristin Haynes (a veterinarian in the Maitland area), his
three Tortie cats, Callie, Hailey, Lilac, a Calico Mabel, a
Shepard mix Grace, and a Cockatiel named Peaches.
