To create a podcast you can use many diferent types of software for the diferent parts of the creation process. In addition there are many web based tools to help in the process. Podcast Aggregators
- In order to subscribe to podcasts you will need software or online services the allow you subscribe to the RSS feeds so you receive the podcast everytime a new one is published. Some of the Podcast Aggregators (also know as RSS Readers) are:
- iTunes (Mac or PC) (Free)
- Download free podcasts from the iTunes Store 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Then sync it to your iPod and bring it along. Anywhere.
- Doppler
(PC) (Free)
- Doppler is a podcast aggregator. It’s a tool to subscribe to RSS feeds which supply downloadable files. Doppler will go out and fetch the files enclosed in the RSS feed and will automatically add them to your preferred media player. And it does this in a very smooth unattended manner. It’s simple! Really.
- Juice (PC or Mac) (Free)
- Juice lets users select and download shows and music and play whenever they want on their iPods, portable digital media players, or computers automatically.

Quicktime format is the most commonly used format in podcasting, because you can play it in iTunes and transfer it to a video iPod. If you intend to add your podcast to the iTunes catalog your video files must be in Quicktime format.
