Although both George Washington, the father of our nation, and James Madison, the father of our constitution, warned against the dangers of political parties they both realized they were a necessary evil in our democratic process. Since the time of the Federalist, political parties have come and gone; they have changed names and platforms and directed the political landscape of our country. The one component they share is the development of passionate leadership.
It is in that ideal the Young Democrats of Winter Park High School will conduct business during the 2009-2010 academic year. Although this organization has existed on our campus for some time this is the first year that I will serve as its sponsor. As is with any club at WPHS the Young Democrats will be student led and student serving. Our club will continue its efforts of the past with community service projects and voter registration drives but will also infuse leadership training and real world applications.
As of now, we meet every other Wednesday after school, in room 373. If you are interested in the skills of leadership stop by and check out one of our meetings. If you like what you see, JOIN UP! We would love to have you.
