I just read an article from
eSchool News“U.S. educators seek lessons from Scandinavia“ that really confirms what all of us in the area educational technology. A delegation from the
Consortium for School Networking
(CoSN) recently visited the Scandinavian region, learn what they where
doing different since that region score higher than any other in a
recent international test of math and science skills. eSchool News“found
that educators in Finland, Sweden, and Denmark all cited autonomy,
project-based learning, and nationwide broadband internet access as
keys to their success”.
Further more they did not find in those nations were
competitive grading, standardized testing, and top-down accountability
which is what we are known for. If haven’t done so you need to read it!
My point is that integration of technology in the classroom is one the
most powerful ways to promote project-based learning. I think there is
a lesson in there to be learned…… what do you think???
